Speke Training and Education Centre, Liverpool – Creating Frances’s Community Memorial Garden
Our grant of £35,000 turned a disused space at the back of Speke Training & Education Centre into a peaceful memorial garden for the local community.

About the project
The primary aims of the project were to open a space for reflection and mental wellbeing, whilst establishing a memorial for the charity’s chair, Frances Hunt, who passed away just after developing accessibility improvements at the site.
The project also wanted to optimise the space for beneficiaries with sensory impairments and a sensory garden was included in the designs. The design of the project also creates a secluded and peaceful space by screening the garden from the stressful world outside.
